Is it praiseworthy?

It all starts with being thankful on purpose, then praying Gods word....

So, I was walking back from the Laundromat pretty much thinking about everything I was upset about. Of course, I quickly developed a not-so-thankful attitude towards God. This went on for minutes.

As I continued to walk home it hit me that in the midst of life, we should look for things to thank God for On PURPOSE. I believe that’s what this part of Phil 4:16 means “…if there’s anything praiseworthy…think on these things.”

Example: Let’s say you’ve been job-hunting for about a year and nothing but rejection emails (this is not moi-moi, by the way. I understand and God does too 🥲), but instead of constantly thinking “Cynthia works with Chevron, Tunde works with Total, Bimpe works with KPMG. We graduated the same year. I even graduated with a better result but I am the one without a job. God what have I done? Would you continue to look at me this way?”. 😂😂😂😂😂

LOL. Just in case you’re wondering, this is not a prayer. This is a concert type pity-party and I don’t recall God recommending it as a way to pray 🫣.

But instead of thinking in a negative and depleting way that drains all energy as described above (I mean where’s the fun in that?), you could think this way “I have not had a job for a year now but God has miraculously met my needs. Dear Lord, I thank you for provision. I exalt you for miraculously meeting my needs. Dear Father, bless me with a good job so that you can use me to meet someone else’s needs as you have used others to meet my own needs. Your word says:

And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

– ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:8‬‬

This is the kind of prayer that gets God’s attention and move Him to act on our behalf 😎.

Let’s remember, it all starts with being thankful on purpose, then praying Gods word. If we’d do this with a sincere heart, I believe we’ll see the hand of God in that area we’re trusting Him for 🥳.
